As my time at this candlelit winter wedding at The Round Hill Club in Greenwich, Connecticut was coming to a close, my assistant noticed the groom and his brother bringing guitars into the room. I immediately found the band leader who was on a break and inquired, are they sitting in? Turns out they were. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take photos of this, despite it being past my time I knew it would be fun and great for photos! And it was. They were great! The crowd went wild and the bride got on stage, it was the kind of unique and wonderful moment I look for at every wedding and yes, even if I have to make my assistant stay longer. 🙂
I started my photography career, if you will, photographing bands in high school and college. Everything from Christian rock to punk to the musical life of New Orleans including a wax sculpture of the deceased legend Ernie K Doe with his wife. (Look him up if you love music! What a character.) Â I just love being able to capture the joy music brings to those who play and experience it, perhaps it is one of the reasons I love weddings so much. So scroll down and see some of the images from the Dexter Lake Band and their special guests!
