Like many couples whose wedding plans were turned upside down in 2020 by the Coronavirus pandemic, this couple prioritized getting married legally. Since that wasn’t easy in NYC in the spring, they tied the knot in the groom’s home state of Virginia. However, they still wanted to have a stylish Manhattan elopement to officially celebrate!
Since restrictions and conditions were still changing during the summer, plans were in flux until about a week before. But that is ok! My elopement coverage is always subject to various changes, the weather and how the couple is feeling on the day. That is one of the beautiful parts about planning a smaller wedding, you can easily adapt.
The couple opted to exchange vows on the terrace of a suite in the Soho Grand Hotel with their adorable dog Phoebe in attendance. There wasn’t a dry eye. Even me. You can still have a meaningful elopement with just the two of you! (Well, you’ll also need an officiant or a witness for a legal wedding….)
After the ceremony, we planned a photo session highlighting the area in Midtown Manhattan where they met. We rode in style in a vintage cab with Peter from Film Cars, such an unforgettable experience! After photos in Grand Central Station, along 42nd Street, and outside the New York Public Library, we returned for a stroll with Phoebe around Soho. The stylish neighborhood had been hard hit by the lockdowns and protests a few months earlier, but it provided some unique temporary backdrops for sure.
Finally, cake was cut and champagne was had. Reach out if you need help planning a meaningful and stylish elopement in Manhattan or NYC!
