Most of my couples tell me this before their wedding. The good news is that documentary photography doesn't require you to perform for the camera. Rather than directing every movement, I focus on helping you feel comfortable so you can be yourselves. Over time, most couples and guests stop paying attention to the camera entirely. For portraits, we will leave extra time if you are especially concern about this. Not being rushed is key!

I often describe my style as "pretty photojournalism." The moments are real and unscripted, but I am constantly paying attention to light, composition, timing, and background distractions. Candidly taken images can be unflattering, however I take care to edit and shoot in a flattering way. This can include which lenses I use and lighting.

I'm also interested in the design and details of your event. I want to be sure they are beautifully and thoroughly documented for you and your vendors. Often this means having an additional photographer or two depending on the timeline.

Absolutely. Some moments simply cannot happen naturally. Family portraits, wedding party photographs, and large group photos are often some of the most important images for future generations. We will create a plan in advance so these photographs are efficient and stress-free. Doing table shots usually requires extra staff and coordination so we don't take away too much time for natural documentation.

Yes. While I work unobtrusively throughout the day, guests are always welcome to ask for a photo together. These camera-aware portraits are part of the story of a wedding day and often become treasured memories for friends and family.

While my primary focus is documenting people and moments, I also genuinely enjoy photographing event design. Over the years I've developed extensive experience photographing interiors, details, architecture, and event environments.

Documentary photographers don't always prioritize design coverage. I do.

Florals, tablescapes, stationery, custom installations, lighting, and carefully considered guest experiences are all part of the story of a wedding day. They deserve to be documented thoughtfully.

Yes. I am available for weddings and elopements throughout in US & Europe and hold dual U.S.–Italian citizenship, making travel and logistics especially seamless. In addition to English, I am fluent in German and speak conversational French and Italian. Having traveled extensively throughout Europe and lived in Berlin for two years, I bring both local familiarity and international experience to destination celebrations.

Privacy is important to many of my couples. For documentary wedding collections, I typically share only non-identifying images unless you give permission for additional use. Your wedding is not a marketing campaign, and many couples appreciate knowing they can celebrate freely without worrying about extensive online exposure.

On the other hand, some couples want to submit their wedding for publication and I am happy to assist with this process.

I use AI selectively when it improves the client experience, such as helping sort large galleries or removing unavoidable distractions like exit signs. Every wedding is personally edited by me, and I do not rely on AI to create moments, alter reality, or replace the craftsmanship that goes into producing a thoughtful wedding gallery.

Professional retouching is available when needed. My goal is always to create the strongest possible photograph in-camera through careful composition, lighting, and timing. However, if there is a distraction or concern you'd like addressed, I am happy to discuss retouching options after your gallery is delivered.

No. I love the look of film, but I prefer the flexibility of digital photography. I edit all of my own images and apply film inspired presents as a starting place. I still get excited about creating black-and-white photographs, just as I did when I first learned photography in the darkroom.
If you want to include film at your wedding, I suggest ordering a bunch of disposable cameras. You can even have them branded! This would add even more documentary juice to your final gallery featuring the perspective of your guests. I'd be happy to include the scans in your gallery and in your album.
