I was really hoping to have better news on the NYC wedding front by now. NYC is still in a wait and see mode with City Hall still closed and no indoor dining allowed. I know this is going to be a challenge, but there are options for celebrating this summer. I’ll have a round-up on places to celebrate for you next week!
Still closed for licenses and ceremonies
Apply via Project Cupid. Appointment availability is an issue, apply now for fall and keep checking! However, you can use a license from any NY state clerk office to marry in NYC. (I’d aim for an appointment no more than 60 days before your wedding date as we don’t know how long they will keep ignoring the expiration date)
Possible work around: I’d start by checking with towns near NYC, it seems some may be willing to license non-residents.
This is an interesting article from Hempstead, NY where they are doing outdoor ceremonies and have a walk-up license booth. We need something more like this in NYC.
Not accepting any kinds of permits at this time, however you can still marry in the park with under 20 people. You just may have to be flexible and patient since popular spots may attract multiple couples at a time.
Keep checking back to see when they reopen.
