Parachute Jump

Coney Island has been a source of fascination for me since moving to New York. It has to also be one the most photographed places here, maybe outside of Times-Square. But, every photographer sees something different, catches a moment that may never happen again. And it is just such a weird, cheezy, colorful place. I plan to make more visits there this summer because things are going to change. After this season, the amusement park Astroland will close. It is unclear what the developers have in mind, but it will be under construction for a few years and will certainly change the island. But don’t worry, the Parachute Jump is on the National Register of Historic Places. The defunct ride- or Brooklyn’s Eiffel Tower- is from the 1939 New York World’s Fair.
